Hello Music fans and welcome to another issue of the EDGE. I want to first take some time to say farewell to Sharon Jones our columnist from Austin who wrote "Jones Inn".

After several years of her dedicated monthly column to our Austin music scene Sharon has been offered an opportunity to expand her writing talents in several other media outlets. This was a wonderful opening for her to expand her talents and we will all miss her greatly. We wish her the best of luck; she’s a wonderful lady with great abilities so we are sure she will do very well. So what’s going to happen to our Austin section you may be wondering? Well, we have just picked up 2 new writers who will be covering the Austin local music scene starting in July. So don’t worry you guys, we’re on it!

You know, I love the summer months. It brings such great festivals to our city like the one last month, you know, the Jager festival with Type O Negative, Hatebreed, 3 Inches of Blood and of course Austin’s own Powderburn. That was such goodtimes. But brace yourselves as we have some BIG shows coming up…Toadies…Cruefest….Testament…Summer Slaughter…..Thrash and Burn tour. . and of course the HUGE 3 day festival guaranteed to bring back fond memories of the 80’s, the SOUTH TEXAS ROCKFEST! 3 days of some of the best rock n roll bands all under one belt. I am extremely looking forward to it! It will be one awesome event that is not to be missed. Make sure to get your tickets early!

Hey, did anyone take my advice and check out the new Scoutbar yet? Well, I have been there almost everyday now. It’s a nice addition to the few venues we have here and I’m looking forward to some of the great national shows they have coming in June and July. The club is nice and clean and you will see plenty of familiar faces behind the bar serving you those ice cold drinks. To make things even better for the local music scene, Randy Bonillas of 99.5 KISS Texas Traxx will be hosting a local band night every Sunday starting at 9pm. As if cold drinks and live music wasn’t enough, another great reason to stop by and check out the club is that it offers a dance club where the sexy DJ Pandemonium will be rocking the house.
