Disturbed roar back with an ‘Indestructible’ release
Musical trends come and go. Flavor-of-the-month bands pop up, flame out and are never heard from again. The successful bands … the ones with staying power … don’t compromise, don’t dick around with their fan base and don’t take for granted the fact that it’s the fans that make them what they are.
Disturbed is one of those successful bands.
A dozen years out from their groundbreaking and immensely popular triple-platinum debut album, "The Sickness," Disturbed is still relevant, still powerfully brutal, and still putting out great music. The quartet also hit multiple-platinum status with their next two releases, "Believe" in 2002 and "10,000 Fists" in 2005, with both hitting the #1 spot on the charts.
With that history, fans have to be salivating about the release of "Indestructible," which will be available as of press time. San Antonio fans will get a big dose of Disturbed on Saturday, July 26, as they invade the Verizon Wireless Amphitheater at 16765 Lookout Road in Selma, along with Slipknot, Dragonforce, Mastodon, Machine Head and many other bands as part of the Rockstar Energy Mayhem Festival.

Queensryche
Reigning Rock Royalty
At a time when inspiration swung upside-down from a stripper’s pole, Queensryche injected intellect, drama and theater into the dirt-bag debauchery of the crotch-rocking ’80s. The band’s melodic metal was more complex than a hangover would allow and singer Geoff Tate could perk the ears of every lost dog from San Antonio to Seattle.
In a career that spans 25 years and 20 million album sales, Queensryche still performs above the club level on the strength of such hits as "Silent Lucidity," "I Don’t Believe in Love," "Eyes of a Stranger" and numerous others.
They may not have been VIPs on the lap-dance circuit, but it’s probably safe to assume Queensryche creased a few dollar bills to the tune of "Jet City Woman." Just guessing.
On the eve of Queensryche’s appearance at the upcoming South Texas Rockfest July 11-13 at the Javelina Harley Davidson Festival in Boerne (visit www.southtexasrockfest.com for more info), singer Geoff Tate was gracious enough to exchange emails from South America where he and the band are conquering the masses with their timeless tunes.
